Gadsden State Cherokee student receives scholarship
Jennifer Kossar was recently awarded the Jerry L. Culberson Nursing Scholarship, a distinguished scholarship from Gadsden State Community College.
Kossar, a non-traditional student at Gadsden State Cherokee, enjoys working with people and loves learning the skills associated with nursing. Kossar maintains a full-time job while attending school full-time. She is the mother of six year old JJ.
Griffin’s Art History instructor, Deborah Perry, describes her as self-motivated and a pleasure to teach.
“Her grades were excellent,” she said. “She is one of the very best students I have taught in my entire teaching career.”
The Jerry L. Culberson Nursing Scholarship was established by the Cherokee County Health Authority in 2012. This partial tuition scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving nursing student attending Gadsden State Cherokee. Recipients of the scholarship must have demonstrated academic excellence by maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 in all courses attempted and completed toward the nursing degree, show financial need and reside in Cherokee County.
