Authorities have now released the name of the man struck by a train in Collinsville over the weekend.
Police Chief Gary Bowen said the man is believed to be Collinsville resident, Raphael Tomas Pedro, who was around 24 years of age.
The man was reportedly lying on the tracks near Main Street Crossing when he was hit by a northbound train at approximately 8:50 Saturday morning.
Why Pedro was lying on the tracks or how long he had been there, has yet to be determined
Chief Bowen stated that the body was taken to Huntsville where it is being examined by the Department of Forensic Sciences.
At this point, no official cause of death has been announced.
