Mr. John Hugh Downey, age 87 of Piedmont, passed away Friday, July 24th at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:PM Monday, July 27th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, with Danny Downey and Derrick Hamrick officiating; burial will follow in Mt Olive cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:AM until 1:PM Monday.
Pallbearers include Danny Downey, Derrick Hamrick, Kenny Downey, Jeff Shaver.
Survivors include nephews, Danny Downey, Eugene Downey and Kenny Downey; special friends, Teresa, Derrick, Emily Majors Hamrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Downey.

Mr. Downey was a native of Cleburn County, the son of the late Ambrose Franklin and Lillie Mae Medley Downey, was a Korean war veteran, was a welder and a member of TennalaMissionary Baptist Church.
Donations may be made to the Cherokee County Humane Society or the family will accept flowers.
