On Monday a dump truck went over the guard rail on the Southeast Bypass between U.S. 27 and Cave Spring Road – injuring the driver.
Battalion Chief Clete Bonney of the Rome/Floyd Fire Department said the dump truck went into the median, came back across the road, then went over the guardrail – and down a 100 foot embankment.
The driver was entrapped and it took about 10 minutes to extricate him.
He was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.
