Hokes Bluff Man Shot In Hunting Accident In Cherokee Co.

A Hokes Bluff man was seriously injured after being shot in a hunting accident.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver 43 year old Terry Dewayne Fortenberry was hunting with his father and a friend off of County 31 near the Gnatville Community when the incident occurred.

Cherokee County 911 received the call at around 10:00am Friday – Rescue workers and Paramedics had to travel a long distance through the woods to reach the victim before he was airlifted to a Birmingham area hospital.

This case is currently under investigation by the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit.
