Emergency crews were called to the boat ramp on County Road 556 in the Mud Creek Community on Thursday after someone called 911 reporting a male subject was found unconscious on the bank of the lake.

The McCord’s Fire Department, Rescue Squad personnel, Cherokee County EMA personnel, Floyd EMS and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies quickly responded to the scene.

A retired Rome Police Officer was able to make contact with the victim by boat and immediately began CPR.

No detailed information has been released at this time however; Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald was called to the scene.
