SPRING GARDEN – A day after connecting on 16 3-pointers against Alexandria, Sand Rock sank 14 treys on Tuesday in the Cherokee County Basketball Invitational against Haralson County in a 66-30 victory.
Katelyn StClair led the Lady Wildcats with seven 3-pointers and 25 total points. Lanie Henderson had three treys and finished with 21 points. Caley Garrett also sank three treys and finished with 15 points.
Haralson County hit seven 3-pointers of its own, led by Chloe Hyatt and Sarakate Dobson. Both had two treys apiece and both finished with six points. Bayleigh Chandler connected on one 3-pointer and had five points.
Alexandria 43, Etowah 36
SPRING GARDEN – Ashley Phillips finished with 13 points to lead the Alexandria Lady Cubs to a 43-36 victory over Etowah on Tuesday.
Jill Cockrell connected on a pair of 3-pointers and had nine points. Jordyn Walker contributed eight points and Chloe Gattis came away with six points.
Abbi Martin and Anna Jones both had nine points to lead Etowah.
Alexandria led at each of the quarter breaks. The Lady Cubs held a 12-9 advantage after one and a 22-13 edge at halftime. Alexandria was in front 35-23 at the end of three quarters.
Handley 51, Collinsville 46
SPRING GARDEN – Handley held off Collinsville 51-46 on Tuesday.
Takeira Tucker tallied 10 points for the Lady Tigers. Teanna Watts added nine points. Takeriauna Mosley and Emelia Askew both netted eight points. Jayla Trammell connected on a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points.
Tyla Tatum scored a game-high 24 points to lead Collinsville. Kayla Beene sank four treys and finished with 16 points.
Handley led at each of the quarter breaks. The Lady Tigers held a 14-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter and a 30-27 edge at halftime. Handley built a 43-32 lead at the end of three quarters.
Spring Garden 63, Cedar Bluff 11
SPRING GARDEN – Spring Garden smothered Cedar Bluff 63-11 on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers scored the game’s first 49 points. Cedar Bluff finally broke its scoring drought with about seven minutes to go in the third quarter when Kaylyn Vadan connected on a basket. She was also fouled on the play, but missed the ensuing free throw.
Abbey Steward led Spring Garden with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Kayley Kirk rang for eight points, including a pair of treys. Ace Austin and Maggie Jarrett both scored seven points. Libby Brown and Montana Highfield both had six points. Olivia Law finished with five points.
ZaNiya Kyle led the Lady Tigers with four points.
