Alabama Woman Jailed Following Contact at Sheriff’s Office “Checkpoint” in Northwest Georgia

An Alabama woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license after she tried to pass through a “Safety Checkpoint”, that had been set up by the Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office.

During that checkpoint – at the intersection of Butler Dairy Road and Sprayberry Hill Road – a Honda CRV SUV approached the set up.  Officers approached the vehicle, and asked the driver, identified as Candas Ann Morgan, for a drivers license and proof of insurance.

Morgan produced an Alabama drivers license which the officer then ran through the Chattooga E-911 system; the license came back as suspended in the State of Alabama, due to a failure to appear.

Officers then had her pull her vehicle to an adjacent roadway where they advised her that the drivers license was indeed suspended and she would be placed under arrest

Morgan was allowed to place a call to make arrangements to have her vehicle picked up; she was then transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
