On Monday, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Pilot Ronnie Johnston with ALEA’s Aviation Unit received a call from Fisher Rescue Squad at Little River Canyon Park requesting a standby for potential assistance in the rescue of a female youth who had been swept away by the current.
After the initial call, ALEA was notified that two brothers had entered the water to help her and were also in distress. Immediately following the second call, ALEA launched its Aviation Unit. Two rescuers had made contact with the girl, but the two boys were stranded on a rock in the middle of the river.
ALEA Aviation proceeded to the canyon and arrived on scene at approximately 3:15 p.m. Due to the high-risk location, the crew rescued the two males stranded on the rock, first. The crew was then able to return and pick up the female and the two rescuers from the bank adjacent to the location of the two males. The rescue was completed at 4 p.m. There were no injuries reported for any of the victims or rescuers.
