The Cherokee County Commission held a very brief meeting on Monday.
Commission Chairman Tim Burgess gave an update on the demolition of the first Baptist church property recently obtained by the county. Burgess said that the steeple had been removed from the church and taken to the property at the Recreational Outreach Center. Associate Pastor Gary Hardin said that the church is going to be retaining that steeple to use as part of a future project once the new facility is completed.
The county is currently in the process of having utility lines moved in preparation for the construction of a new courthouse building.
