A strong thunderstorm that barreled through Cherokee County on Sunday afternoon brought with it a significant amount of cloud to ground lightning – leaving in its wake a structure that was destroyed on County Road 129.
According to reports, at approximately 3:25 a barn was struck by lightning, causing it to catch fire. The barn was considered a total loss, fortunately there were no injuries associated with the incident.
Broomtown firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to the scene.
