Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Announces End to Additional Federal Unemployment Benefits

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has announced that the state will opt out of providing additional federal unemployment benefits set up to help people during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Kemp said Thursday morning the final week people will receive the extra $300 will be June 26th.

Many say the federal benefits have led to a labor crisis across the state because many people are simply staying at home rather than venture out to look for work.

Here in Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced an end to the federal unemployment benefits, effective June 19th.
