School Board Bringing Back Art/Music To Cherokee County Schools

During their regular meeting on Monday afternoon, the Cherokee County School Board approved the posting of 3 Music Teacher positions and an Art Teacher position which will return these electives to the school system. Currently the only schools that offer music programs are Centre Middle School and Cherokee County High School. 

In other business, the board received a ‘clean bill of health’ from the State Examiner on the yearly audit report. 

The 2021-2022 Energy Savings Budget for Centre Elementary School was also approved. 

The Board voted to declare the flooring project in the Pre-K Building at Centre Elementary School as a public works project and voted to join the Tennessee Valley CNP Purchasing Cooperative. 

A number of bids were also accepted, those included; Coca Cola Contract at Spring Garden and Sand Rock and Sound Solutions for Spring Garden Theatre Sound and Lighting System in the amount of $19,732.22

Numerous cafeteria items at the old Centre Elementary School cafeteria were declared as surplus items.
