Cherokee County deputies were involved in a high speed pursuit in Sand Rock overnight Saturday. Deputies were responding to a report in the area of County Road 70 involving several juveniles.
Deputies were in the area searching for the vehicle involved when they spotted it on County Road 70 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver fled at a high rate of speed and led deputies on a pursuit down numerous County Roads – at one point turning into the parking lot at Sand Rock School.
According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, the juvenile driver got stuck in mud at the Sand Rock 4 way stop and was taken into custody and transported to the Coosa Valley Detention Center.
