Alabama faces the potential for another round of severe weather today – with storms possible during morning but stronger storms will be possible this afternoon as a cold front moves across the state.

The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather in place for nearly all of south Alabama and a large part of central Alabama today; a “slight risk” is Level 2 out of 5 and means scattered severe storms will be possible.

Meanwhile the rest of the state has a marginal risk for severe weather, which is Level 1 and means isolated severe storms will be possible.  The strongest storms could have damaging winds and hail with one to three inches of rain possible.

The National Weather Service says this time around the tornado potential is on the lower side but still possible.  The storms are expected to form into a line ahead of the cold front and move from west to east across the state.  It’ll also be windy today, and tonight behind that cold front – as colder air rushes into the state.  Temperatures in north Alabama could fall into the upper 40‘s, or lower’50’s, later in the day.
