Georgia Man Fatally Injured in Highway 117 Crash Near Mentone

A 59 year old Georgia man was killed in a single-vehicle accident occurring on Friday in DeKalb County (Alabama).

That Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report states that Mark Wilson was fatally injured as the result of injuries sustained after the 2020 Ford Ranger he was a passenger in left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned just after 8:30pm.

The driver, identified as 67 year old George William Hurt also of Georgia and another male passenger, were both injured in the crash – Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The wreck, which took place on Alabama 117 near East River Road around two miles south of Mentone, remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
