A suspect managed to elude officers following a pursuit that began in Cherokee County and ended inside Georgia on Saturday night.
According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for running at a high rate of speed on 411 when the pursuit began. The vehicle was also passing other motorists on double-yellow lines.
Floyd County and Cave Spring Police were notified and picked up the pursuit in Georgia.
The vehicle crashed on Old Cedartown Road just inside Polk County and the driver fled on foot. The vehicle was impounded after methamphetamine and alcohol were seized from the car.
