Adkison’s perfect performance from the floor lifts Spring Garden past Westbrook Christian

SPRING GARDEN – Lexy Adkison had a perfect shooting performance from the floor (8-of-8 field goals and 2-of-2 free throws) in leading top-ranked Spring Garden to an 86-23 victory over Westbrook Christian in the first round of the Class 2A, Area 12 girls basketball tournament on Tuesday.

Adkison finished with 18 points, four rebounds, an assist and a block for Spring Garden (29-2). Neely Welsh added 11 points, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Olivia Law netted 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, with three rebounds and three steals.

Avery Steward connected on three 3-pointers and had nine points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Ace Austin also contributed nine points, six assists, four steals, two rebounds and two blocks. Bri Boles and Abbey Steward both had a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points apiece.

The Lady Panthers connected on 13 treys in the game. They led 32-6 at the end of the first quarter and 58-8 at halftime.

Spring Garden hosts Sand Rock on Friday at 6 p.m. for the area championship.
