A group of bright, young students from Cherokee County Schools gathered on Friday, January 29, to compete for the system title of Spelling Bee Champion. Contestants spelled words like mechanics, battalion, propound, schedule, and parchment. Brooklynne Thornton, a sixth grader from Spring Garden School, won the competition by correctly spelling the word disconsolate. The runner-up was Jonathan Baker, an eighth grader from Spring Garden. Congratulations to all of the participants, and thank you to all of the school sponsors!
