The Alabama Department of Public Health is “relocating” 4,000 doses of the COVID vaccine in order for them to be used in other places.
State health officials announced last week, they would be moving unused doses from clinics or pharmacies that weren’t giving them out quickly enough – and would be relocating them to areas with limited supplies. The ADPH is currently surveying providers to ensure that all administered doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been reported in the state’s electronic data system; the information will be used to determine if any other doses need to be redistributed to other area providers; they adding that no vaccine doses have been disposed of.
Alabama is currently vaccinating healthcare workers; those residents and staff members of long-term care facilities, first responders and people over the age of 75.
