Cherokee County Commission Recognizes Commissioner Marcie Foster During Her Final Meeting

The Cherokee County Commission recognized Commissioner Marcie Foster during their regular meeting on Monday evening. Foster was presented with a plaque honoring her years of service to the people of Cherokee County.

Commissioner Foster had this to say

In other business, an agreement with Caterpillar Equipment was approved in the amount of $209,030.60 for the purchase of a 2020 model excavator for the county highway department. This purchase was a budgeted item.

A motion also passed approving the purchase of a new body scanning system at the Cherokee County Detention Center in the amount of $118,750. County Administrator Daniel Steele noted that this purchase is refundable under the Cares Act. 

The County has once again agreed to participate in the WEIS Radio Shop at Home Campaign for November and December 2020. 

An agreement with Charter Spectrum was also approved for upgraded phone services at the Cherokee County Administration Building. 

A motion to lower the speed limit on County Road 245 was also approved. The change will be from 45 to 25 miles per hour from Highway 411 to the dead end.  

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission will be November 11th at 9:00 a.m., there will be no Planning Session that day.
