A 70-year old Rome man has been arrested for shooting a 30-year old man on East Drive in Rome Wednesday evening. According to a report at the Floyd County Jail – Charles Vincent Hawkins went onto the victim’s property, and discharged a firearm, hitting the victim in the chest.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries, which required immediate surgery and life-saving measures. Hawkins reportedly admitted to the shooting saying he did it because the victim was playing loud music from his vehicle.
Hawkins has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, reckless conduct, discharge of a firearm near a public street or roadway and possession of firearm during the commission of a crime.
