Chattooga County Man Killed In Weekend Auto Accident On Highway 27

A weekend auto accident claimed the life of a Chattooga County, Georgia man.

The fatal crash took place Sunday just after 2:00pm between Little Caesar’s Pizza and Lake Wanda Reita Road.  The Georgia State Patrol report stated that Trooper Doug Shamblin was dispatched to the wreck, which involved a BMW motorcycle and a Pontiac Montana van.

According to that report the driver of the van had attempted to turn south onto Highway 27 from a parking lot. 

The motorcycle was traveling northbound on 27 in the right lane – and the van, driven by a 31 year old Menlo resident, Elizabeth Tench, entered the motorcycle’s path and was struck in the left side; as a result, the driver of the motorcycle, identified as Kenneth Stephens, age 41 of Trion, suffered fatal injuries.  

There were no other injuries.

The investigation into the incident continues.
