The Alabama Department of Transportation says that traffic diversion has begun on Alabama 68 at the old Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia (TAG) Railroad north of Leesburg.

The traffic diversion will allow for demolition of the bridge, constructed in 1941. Ikaros, LLC, contractor on the $3,033,000 project, has installed a box culvert to replace the bridge.

Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed and drive with caution in the work zone.
