According to a post on the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page – Tuesday evening Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a high-speed pursuit that started on Highway 117 in Ider and came to an end when the suspect crashed his truck on Jackson County Road 78.
The chase reportedly began after the driver – later identified as Mark Anthony Summerford of Flat Rock – was clocked at 91 mph and was driving recklessly. Authorities allegedly also discovered methamphetamine in his vehicle.
Following the crash deputies stabilized Summerford until medics arrived – he was then air-lifted to Erlanger Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
Summerford will face charges in Jackson County.
