Oil prices surged 3% on Friday following confirmation by the Pentagon that Iran’s top commander was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad, raising concerns of a bigger conflict between the two countries that could disrupt energy production in the region.
The average statewide price for a gallon of gas is at $2.36, that’s considerably lower than the national average of $2.58 according to AAA.
Locally gas prices range anywhere from $2.19 at the Chevron on West Main Street, Murphy USA and the Grub Mart in Centre, to around $2.24 – $2.29 in Cedar Bluff.
