Get ready to hang up on yet another scammer – this time it’s one claiming to be an Alabama State Trooper.  We’ve had reports from local residents receiving calls from someone saying they’re collecting money as part of the fund-raising drive for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency – the problem is, there’s no such drive.

One caller told us the person on the line refused to give their name, not even an “Officer this or Officer that”, which seemed unusual and seemed very unprofessional in general.  So they hung up the phone and called us to report the incident. 

We contacted the Decatur State Troopers Post and they gave us a number to speak with the statewide Alabama Law Enforcement Agency official over all aspects of public relations and marketing and as it turns out – they’re NOT conducting any fundraising drive via telephone, and she assures us those calls are NOT associated in any way with ALEA.

If you receive a call from this number – or any other number for that matter – and someone claims to be collecting money for Alabama State Troopers, simply hang up.  It’s just another scam.
