WEIS Radio Listeners Donate Quarters to Help Offset Laundry Expenses at Cherokee Manor

A portion of Cherokee Manor in Centre was damaged by fire on March 25th and the laundry room still cannot be used.  Due to the damage a total of 14 residents were displaced and the remaining 36 have to go offsite to wash clothes.  Due to the generous donations received here at WEIS Radio, we have been able to help out with those laundry costs. On Wednesday, we delivered $140 worth of quarters to the Manor.

Kristie Barron, the Manager of Cherokee Manor, said she greatly appreciates the donations from WEIS Radio and the community.

Immediately following the fire in March, the WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund helped those 14 displaced residents with additional living expenses while staying in a motel or their new locations.  The fund also assisted with the additional cost of renting a storage facility.

We are currently accepting donations for our WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund to assist in any upcoming disasters or emergencies the surrounding areas could have in the future. Donations may be made by cash or through check, credit or debit card – and are currently being accepted at the WEIS Radio Studios 477 South Pratt Street in Centre – during regular business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm OR simply by calling (256) 927-5152 or (256) 927-4232. You can mail checks or donations to P.O. Box 297 Centre, AL 35960.  Make checks payable to the WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund.  And remember, no amount is too great or too small – we greatly appreciate those who have donated.
