Summerville Man Fatally Injured in Highway 27 Accident Over the Weekend

A 27-year-old Summerville man died over the weekend after authorities say he lost control of his 1994 Chevy Silverado truck.

Jared Holt has been identified as the driver killed in the accident.

The wreck occurred around 6:30pm Saturday on U.S. 27 South near Doyle Road close to the Floyd/Polk county line.  Sergeant Chris Fincher of the Floyd County Police Department said Holt was speeding south toward Cedartown when his tires dipped off the side of the road, at which point he apparently over corrected, causing the truck to cross the median and begin a barrel roll.

The truck crossed the opposite lanes of traffic before finally coming to a stop.

The police report states speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
