A man was lucky to escape serious injury in a single-vehicle rollover occurring in the 4100 block of Highway 411 on Monday afternoon shortly after 4:00.
According to Floyd County Police, a Volkswagen SUV being driven by Daniel Van Graan, age 23 of Rome was traveling westbound toward Cave Spring.
Van Graan lost control of the vehicle – which ran off the north side of the road, hit a culvert and began rolling. He managed to crawl out of the vehicle before it caught fire. A Georgia Power employee was putting out the fire as the first police unit arrived. The crash caused a wheel from the SUV to come loose and roll into a yard, where it struck a propane tank. The tank then rolled and struck a house.
Van Graan complained of injury and was transported to the hospital to be checked out.
