Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

A 39 year old Rome resident was recently jailed on a lengthy list of charges in the wake of a routine traffic stop on Martha Berry Boulevard.

During the stop, officers suspected illegal activity and called in a K9 to search the vehicle, in turn, leading to the arrest of both the driver and a passenger in the car.

Jail reports indicate that Derrick Loren Richardson stands charged with possession of meth, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and the possession of drug-related objects – in addition to possession of a gun during the commission of a crime, the possession of a gun by a convicted felon, driving without a license and driving without insurance.

The other occupant in the vehicle identified as 27 year old Kayla Mae Kinney of Cave Spring – was charged with possession of meth, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
