One Person Airlifted From The Scene Of A Single Vehicle Rollover On West Main Street In Centre / UPDATED

A single vehicle rollover on West Main Street in Centre on Tuesday afternoon left the driver with minor injuries and caused serious injuries to a passenger.

According to the Centre Police Department accident report, that wreck took place just prior to 6:00pm at the intersection with South Pratt, when the 19 year old driver lost control of a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer she was driving and rolled it, ejecting a passenger – 27 year old Michael Thomas Bradley of Centre. 

Among the first to arrive were Police Chief Kirk Blankenship and a Sheriff’s Office Deputy.

The driver was treated for minor injuries and then taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center and booked into jail on a charge of DUI/Any Substance.  After being stabilized at the scene by Cherokee EMS Medics, Bradley was air-lifted to UAB via LifeSaver Helicopter.

West Main between Cherokee Glass and the Centre First Methodist Church was completely shut down for an extended period of time as investigators gathered additional information and the vehicle was removed from the scene.

That accident remains under investigation.
