Rome Police are investigating a deadly shooting Wednesday evening on Tamassee Lane in West Rome.
After reports of shots fired in the area at around 6:30 p.m. police found a man who had been shot near the walking trail leading to Walmart off of Redmond Circle.
Another man was found to have a gun in his possession.
Floyd County Deputy Coroner Brent Whatley confirmed the identity of the man who was killed as 25-year old Martez Harris.
His body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
According to Floyd County Jail records, 26-year old Demonte Tywon Penn of Edgewood Avenue was booked and charged with murder.
