Cherokee County Country Club Open for Business Following Stockholders/Board of Directors Meeting

The Cherokee County Country Club will be open today for business.

The Board of Directors held a meeting with the Stockholders and the Members Monday night for the purpose of deciding which direction to take with the facility. More than a week ago it was announced that the Country Club and Golf Course was closed due to lack of operating funds.

The Board of Directors informed the Stockholders and Members the Country Club owes $350,000 and basically does not have money to operate the facility nor pay the current bills in the amount of $7960 and the reason to close the facility was due to the inability to pay the employees.

The Board then presented the group with three options.

The first was to sell the Country Club to an investor who offered to take the Business for the amount owed, which is $350,000 and invest more money to make it a viable Country Club.

The second option presented was to increase dues to $125 per month from the current $70. Those who own their cart and want them housed at the Country Club would pay $175 per month. For those who don’t own a cart and wants the use of one on an unlimited basis when at the Country Club will pay $200 per month. Plus the Board assessed all members and Stockholders a fee of $200 that must be paid by Friday, March 30.

The Third option was to file a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. This plan would give the Board and Stockholders time to pay off their bills under Bankruptcy Supervision which would also protect them from harassment by creditors while repaying the debts owed.

The first decision made by the group was to take away the Sale Option. The second decision was to take away the Bankruptcy option. The group of Members and Stockholders directed the Board to increase the Dues To $125 per month, $175 per month for those own their carts but want service at the Club, and $200 per month for those who do not own a cart but wants cart service when they play golf or want to ride through the golf course and try to increase membership also.

The Board of Directors told the group they would have the Proposal Completed By Friday (March 30th) and ready to present to Stockholders and Members at a Stockholders Meeting at 6:00pm Monday, April 2nd.

But for now, the Country Club is open for Business today, Tuesday March 27th.
