Cherokee County will have two girls basketball teams represented in the 2018 Alabama High School Athletic Associations High School Basketball Final-Four at the BJCC in Birmingham on beginning Monday.
The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats punched their ticket to the tournament with a thrilling 33-30 victory over the Collinsville Lady Panthers in the Northeast Regional Championship at JSU.
With the win, Sand Rock moves to 22-8 while also grabbing the Regional crown and earning a trip to the BJCC in Birmingham on Monday, at 6pm against the winner of Keith vs RC Hatch (Central Region) that game will be played on Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
Collinsville’s Area Championship season ends at 25-8.
The Spring Garden Lady Panthers will also be making a return to the BJCC. The Lady Panthers posted a 68-39 win over the #8 ranked Skyline Lady Vikings at JSU.
With the win, Spring Garden advances to 28-3 on the year, earning another 1A Northeast Region crown, and a trip to face the winner of #10 Westminster-Oak Mountain vs #7 Loachapoka on Monday at Noon.
That Westminster-Oak Mountain vs Loachapoka game will be played Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
Skyline’s season which included a 1A Area 14 title ends at 24-7.
