iStock/Thinkstock(PARIS) — Violence broke out at Intermarché supermarkets across France on Thursday as shoppers shoved past each other to save 70 percent on Nutella.
Chaos ensued in French supermarkets as shoppers scrambled to take advantage of the discount.
Brawls were filmed in several supermarkets across the country operated by the Intermarché chain.
Launched on Thursday, the promotion reduced the price of more than a million 950-gram jars from 4.70 euros ($5.85) to 1.41 ($1.75), according to Bloomberg.
According to Nutella’s official website, the amount of the spread produced every year weighs as much as the Empire State Building.
