WEIS Radio began receiving calls from motorists reporting a vehicle on fire by the roadside near Patterson’s Grocery at around 6:00 Thursday morning.  According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency report, troopers along with firefighters, immediately responded to the location south of Leesburg just across the Etowah County line – where they found the 2006 Pontiac still on fire.

Fortunately, the driver – 30 year old Whitney Bowers of Centre – was unhurt.

It’s unclear what caused the vehicle to ignite and the matter remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers
