Meghan Hopper of Centre was recently awarded the distinguished Women’s Club of Weiss Lake Scholarship for 2017. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving female student and resident of Cherokee County attending Gadsden State Community College-Cherokee.
The scholarship was established by the Women’s Club of Weiss Lake in 2013. The group is a community organization serving Cherokee County with the aim of enhancing the quality of living in the community. Club members include residents from throughout the county, many of whom are semi-retired professionals.
The recipient of this partial-tuition scholarship must demonstrate academic excellence by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 in all courses attempted and completed; be enrolled in a minimum of six hours of classes and satisfactorily demonstrate financial need for the scholarship.
Recommendation of the scholarship recipient is made by the faculty/staff of Gadsden State Cherokee.
