Gaylesville’s Cole Murphy returns for his senior season at linebacker with Birmingham Southern.  

As a junior Murphy garnered Southern Athletic Association All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.   The 5’11”, 190 lb. led the team with 64 total tackles including a 44 solo stops.  He also earned the SAA Academic Honor Roll award in his sophomore and junior years. 

Murphy played football for head coach Kyle Garmon at Gaylesville where he was a 2013 all-state selection.  Cole is the son of McConnell and DeAnna Murphy.  

Birmingham Southern will open their 2017 football campaign this Saturday at LaGrange (Ga.) College with kickoff scheduled for 1:00pm CST.
