One Dead, Four Injured in Head-On Collision Monday Afternoon

A head-on collision in Calhoun County on Monday afternoon claimed the life of an Ohatchee man and left four others injured.

According to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Public Information Officer Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel, the crash occurred some three miles east of Ohatchee around 5:20pm on Alabama Highway 144 and involved a 1997 BMW driven by Reimundo Juarez Jr. age 30 and a 2012 Jeep Liberty.

Juarez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Four occupants of the Jeep were transported to area hospitals for treatment. 

The names and conditions of those in the Jeep have yet to be released.

That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
