According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin a now ex-Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Deputy faces a charge of Custodial Sexual Misconduct.
Anthony Ryan Bowen, age 40 of Gadsden, was arrested, after he allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a female victim while she was in custody in the back seat of a patrol car.
He was immediately terminated from his position as a deputy upon his arrest.
He’s being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a cash bond of $100,000.
“A priority of this Sheriff’s Office is to always protect and serve. This is the oath we take. This sheds a black eye on the Office and law enforcement.
As soon as we were notified of the crime we took quick action to relieve him of his duties. I want to personally apologize to the victim that an employee acted in this manner. At this time we are investigating this case as an isolated incident.
