Firefighters with the Cedar Bluff, Centre and Gaylesville departments responded to a report of a house fire on County Road 189 just off Highway 9 shortly after 9:00 Monday morning.
Units arrived to find smoke coming from the attic and firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, with no one being hurt; however, a family pet reportedly perished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama State Troopers also responded to the scene.
