An inmate who escaped from a work detail at the Rome/Floyd Recycling Center on Monday afternoon is back in custody. 23 year old Michael Shannon was captured on Gibbons Street, not far away from the recycling center.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Shannon had been convicted in Fulton County in 2014, on charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, breaking and entering of a vehicle and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
His scheduled release date was 2019.
