Centre Man Arrested For Violating Statewide No Burn Order

jansenjordanFirefighters were called to the scene of what initially began as a grass fire at a location on County Road 33 Friday afternoon. As Fire Departments from Ellisville, Centre, Spring Garden & Spring Creek were en-route they were notified by Cherokee County 911 that an abandoned mobile home and a vehicle were additionally on fire as a result of the initial fire.

The mobile home was completely destroyed by the fire which according to Cherokee County Fire/Arson Investigator Shawn Rogers was started due to someone burning brush at the location.

As a result 40 year old Centre resident Jansen Layne Jordan was arrested on charges of Burning During a Drought Emergency, Jordan was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center just after 2:30 Friday afternoon and is being held on a $500 bond.

Earlier in the week Investigator Rogers forewarned residents that he would begin signing warrants and making arrests for those violating the No Burn Order, a Class B misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $3,000 and up to six months in the county jail.
