Facebook(SAN FRANCISCO) – Facebook reached another milestone on Wednesday, as it surpassed 1.79 billion monthly visitors as of the end of September. Also, the social media platform added a record number of new daily users, according to The New York Times.
This growth goes against the usual trajectories for social media companies, which often begin strong but then sharply fall off. This has led to advertisers becoming more willing to utilize the platform, as the company said sales totaled $6.82 billion for the third quarter, which is up 59-percent from last year.
Perhaps even more encouraging for Facebook, mobile advertising revenue tripled from last year, for a total of $2.38 billion.
One of the main reasons for Facebook’s increase in advertising revenue is from its video ad business, which has experienced significant growth over the past year.
