iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) – The average office space is about to get a facelift, thanks to former Google employee Lucy Lyle. Her new company, Perch, is a design-focused office product company. It officially launched on Thursday.
In an interview with Business Insider, Lyle said that she “just got tired of being subjected to bad workspace products. Though the common areas at Google are more creatively designed there was a lot of fluorescent lighting and white desks where we were spending most of our time working.”
With more American workers opting to work remotely, Perch hopes to appeal to an individual’s tastes. Such items include custom-designed mahogany desks that cost from $750 to $1,250. A desk of similar quality at a traditional retailer would cost up to $10,000.
According to the company’s website, one of its main goals is to get its customers excited about sitting down at their desk at work.
Perch has already attracted investors such as Casper co-founder and COO Neil Parikh, Bonobos and Trunk Club co-founder Brian Spaly, and Venmo co-founders Iqram Magdon-Ismail and Andrew Kortina, among others.
