Just before 8:00am Wednesday, some 50 law enforcement officers from a variety of Etowah County law enforcement agencies, hit the streets in a warrant round-up, targeting domestic violence cases.
By 3:00pm a total of 32 warrants had been cleared with 30 arrests being made.
The initiative is part of the annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail – last year, agencies arrested approximately 1,700 people during the campaign.
Warrants include those for non-support, restraining orders and stalking order violations, in addition to those for assault, harassment and child and elder abuse crimes.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office took part in that round-up effort, along with the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, U.S. Marshals and area police departments and sheriff’s office units.
