Rome Man Struck and Killed While Crossing Martha Berry Boulevard

A 63 year old man was fatally injured while crossing Martha Berry Boulevard in Rome early Tuesday morning. 

Thomas Walter Redwine of a North Fifth Avenue address was struck by a vehicle at 6:40am near McDonald Street.

According to police the driver said he failed to see the victim who was reportedly wearing a black jacket and all-black clothing, before it was too late; the man stated that he managed to swerve but was unable to avoid striking Redwine.

The investigation into the matter is on-going; no charges have been filed at this time.
