JSU Student Killed in Collision with an 18 Wheeler on Monday Afternoon

An 18 year old college student, was fatally injured in a two-vehicle collision involving an 18 wheeler Monday afternoon.  According to a report by the Anniston Star Katie Beth Carter of Ringgold, Georgia was driving a 2011 Honda Accord when she collided with the 18 wheeler at the intersection of Highway 278 and Roy Webb Road just after 3:30pm.

Carter, a student at Jacksonville State University was pronounced dead at Grady Hospital in Atlanta at approximately 6:00pm.

The driver of the truck was taken to RMC Jacksonville as a precautionary measure.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.

Those responding to the scene include Piedmont Rescue, the Ball Play #1 Fire Department, Knighten’s Crossroads Fire Department, Piedmont Police and Alabama State Troopers.
