An Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested and fired after numerous narcotics and other contraband were found inside his personal bag at the jail.
Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said that 33 year old Erick Steven Bullock of Hokes Bluff, was arrested Monday on two counts of drug possession, first degree and second degree promoting of prison contraband and misdemeanor counts of salvia possession and promoting prison contraband.
An internal investigation revealed that Bullock had Suboxone, methamphetamine, salvia, tobacco products and cellphone in his personal bag inside the jail. Investigators believe he was selling the items to inmates.
Sheriff Entrekin said that he has a zero tolerance for those who abuse the trust placed upon them, saying “Our deputies are here to protect, serve and uphold the law, not violate it.”
Bullock is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $9,500 property bond.
